There are over four million olive trees on Corfu,and I walk in the olive groves surrounding our house almost every day.

It is such a delight to explore these groves find ancient,tumbled down ruins in them and wander amongst the gnarled,old olive trees.

In spring they are carpeted with white and pink spring flowers and in winter with wild blue iris,pink cyclamen and iridescent green moss.

I love setting up my easel amongst the olive trees capturing the ever changing light,listening to the birds and feeling the awe that comes from being in such a special and ancient land.

The sea is a constant inspiration for me,having grown up,windsurfing,swimming,surfing and diving in it.

I swim in the sea almost every day,in summer when it is liquid crystal and a vivid turquoise and in winter when it is often rough with powerful waves and currents.

I often take my pleinair equipment and paint from life or sketch in order to understand its moods and constant changes.

I really believe in the old Greek Saying "A swim in the sea adds a year to your life"

Nature,is always my muse and Corfu where I live is absolutely captivating.

I walk most days in the Nymfes forest,close to our house.Here I find so much magic,the forest trees,the pools, waterfalls and the dappled sunlight.

The spanish painter known as the master of sunlight,Sorolla, is a constant inspiration.

I am always drawn to the play of light,on a twig or a leaf and the contrast of deep shadow and bright sunlight.

I paint and sketch outside en pleinair as often as possible,this helps me to understand the colours in the shadows and how light changes depending on time and the weather.

I work in my studio on larger pieces using all the information I have gathered en pleinair.

This series was inspired by my love of the ocean which has always been a constant in my life.

I swim all year round in it almost every day and after a swim I always feel more alive! 

I have windsurfed,surfed and dived in the sea all my life and it still absolutely captivates me,a life force,powerful,constant and always to be respected.

I love how the light shines through the water and refracts the body causing it to form broken patterns and colours.

Reflections are always changing according to the weather and the light.

In this series I hope to convey some of this magic!

These are all works done on site,(en pleinair) They are a very important part of my practice.

Nothing compares to being outside capturing a particular moment,the sound of nature at work,the way the sunlight plays on a branch,the colours,the smell and the feeling.

Being forced to work quickly also produces a painting that has a woderful sense of freedom,a moment in time never to happen again.

They are small and have a raw quality to them which takes me straight back to that particular time and place.
